Lonavla Trip

Last Monday, i went on a short trip with my Wife, Sister and In-laws to Lonavla. We stayed at a rented bungalow near the Express way. The weather was pleasant, didn’t rain, was just cool and windy. We went to Pawana Dam and a boat club on the way and the Wax museum. The next day we went to Tiger Leap Point, also went right up to the gates of Amby valley passing by INS Shivaji and the AFS nearby. Later to Bushi dam and then returned home Tuesday evening.

EsselWorld Trip

The last time i went to EsselWorld was way back in 1987 when i was in grade II. From then, today the park has increased many folds, introducing a Water park and the nearby Global Pagoda.
So Friday morning around 0930 we first went to see the Immense pillar-less structure and the still under construction surroundings. The lush green and beautiful garden was the best part. Thereafter around 11 we rushed to enter the Fun Zone. We sat on rides that twisted and turned and went upside down.I screamed and laughed my lungs out and enjoyed. I don't remember when last did i scream or laugh so freely. Post a bite from Dominos and soup we visited the  decommissioned INS Prabal and went Ice Skating. CCD gave us much needed warmth after the Arctic experience and then the last stop around 1700 was at the Bowling alley. thoroughly enjoyed and tired we reached home by 1800.

Life's new leaf

I have been busy with Life's new curves and have been away from regular blogging. This turn of life started on May 28th eventually leading to my marriage to Snehal on 15th December 2012. Since then the journey has never been the same again!

“Marriage has the power to set the course of your life as a whole. If your marriage is strong, even if all the circumstances in your life around you are filled with trouble and weakness, it won't matter. You will be able to move out into the world in strength.”
―Timothy Keller, The Meaning of Marriage: Finding Happiness in Your Most Profound Relationship.

“My love has placed her little hand
With noble faith in mine,
And vowed that wedlock's sacred band
Our nature shall entwine.

My love has sworn, with sealing kiss,
With me to live -- to die;
I have at last my nameless bliss:
As I love -- loved am I!
”
― Charlotte Brontë, Jane Eyre

“A wedding is an event, but marriage is a life.”   ― Myles Munroe, Waiting and Dating.

Preps for the Big Day

In 4 days i will loose the tag of a Bachelor, preparations are in full swing for the D day. Ever since Monday last i have been going around inviting people, things now are in the advanced stage where arrangements are being finalized and confirmed. The final touches and checks are being made. Wednesday should see the "Full Ahead" signal and final dash to the ocassion.

Amid all this hectic, crazy (mis)adventure what’s extremely difficult is to maintain ones cool. There are ten different people advising you and some telling you what needs to be done. Worse is when they expect you to 'do as advised' and want their own way through. I feel like a punching bag where everyone from both parties pouncing on me and expect me to smile and say " My pleasure". Seriously! Since past so many days i am picking up arguments left right center and am seeing my self being trodden over like a doormat. Nobody listens to me and my opinions is never considered. A game we used to play as children comes to my mind, where each player had to hid the center top with ones top point and make it fling. I feel like the center top! What the bloddy heck. On second thoughts ....i should'nt be having second thoughts though still i wish i could skip this rigmarole and simply be at peace instead of these pieces.

Well... Que sera sera.....how can i survive the remaining 4 days is to be seen.

"Marriage is not a ritual or an end. It is a long, intricate, intimate dance together and nothing matters more than your own sense of balance and your choice of partner." - Amy Bloom

"For I've been born and I've been wed. All of man's peril comes of bed." - C.H. Webb, Dum Vivimus Vigilemus

"It is not from reason and prudence that people marry, but from inclination." - Samuel Johnson

"Oh, how we danced on the night we were wed

We vowed our true love though a word wasn't said
The world was in bloom, there were stars in the skies
Except for the few that were there in your eyes.
The night seemed to fade into blossoming dawn
The sun shone anew but the dance lingered on
Could we but relive that sweet moment sublime
We'd find that our love is unaltered by time."
- lyrics to "The Anniversary Waltz," composed by Dubin/Frankl

Strike an average between what a woman thinks of her husband a month before she marries him and what she thinks of him a year afterward, and you will have the truth about him. ~H.L. Mencken, A Book of Burlesques, 1916

Final Day of Invitations

Today was the last day of going around inviting people, friends and relatives for my Marriage 10 days later. Ever since Monday i have been saying "16th is the reception at Gorai, Please do come". Today Morning Mom, Dad and Myself made a beeline for Thane and formally Invited Andrew Mama. Thereafter by 1230 i dropped in at Waynes and Invited his parents and then scooted to invited Junior college Teachers. Miss Rekha, Lata, Mitra, Manisha and Rita were so happy seeing me (I so gleeful that they recognised me at first sight). Then by 1330 I visited a place in Interface to put a face to a name (happy  faces there too). later after some shopping in D-Mart i went to Mhada (malvani) to invite a old so called friend. Thank God i didnt meet him but got his latest number and messaged him.

By 1630 I was home and then 2 hours later i went to Uttan to invite my school friends. Oooooooo How delighted, suprised, thrilled and joyous they were to see me and that too inviting! Looks like they have been waiting for my Invitation all this while (some for years). This day is the best of days in and i would like to reiterate  " there's no other relationship in the world like Friendship!!!

Three Cheers to Friendship!!!

Six Honest Serving Men

I keep six honest serving-men
(They taught me all I knew);
Their names are What and Why and When
And How and Where and Who.
I send them over land and sea,
I send them east and west;
But after they have worked for me,
I give them all a rest.

I let them rest from nine till five,
For I am busy then,
As well as breakfast, lunch, and tea,
For they are hungry men.
But different folk have different views;
I know a person small—
She keeps ten million serving-men,
Who get no rest at all!

She sends'em abroad on her own affairs,
From the second she opens her eyes—
One million Hows, two million Where’s,
And seven million Whys!
----------Rudyard Kipling

Friends from olden times

Today i traveled back in time to my school days, ahh those fun filled wonderful days, how can one ever forger them. I had gone to the beach looking for sand and while returning though of dropping in at malisa's. On the way i happened to meet Christbell, Kuku as she is commonly known was a year senior in school.
We went to the same tution class and she always handed her text books down to  me. After she passed out of school i took tutions from her for matriculation exzams. Our families knew each other and we were good friends. I can't forget the tutions time spent at her house. They were so much fun and eventful.
Christabell was on her veranda with her little one. I helloed her and asked how shes doing. She's hasn't changed much after getting married to her long time boyfriend. While i was inquiring about her well being, beautiful memories of those old days flashed back. I was stumped when She said that i need to get married now.
I told her that she wont be disappointed and that i would let her know when the day arrives.

Do i Look matured ?
After a couple of  minutes i took her leave and called on Malisa. As usual i had a candid tete-a-tete and discussed a long list of preparations for the big day. Malisa was also going through difficult times and felt relieved talking to me.I was in a disheveled look and she complimented saying that i looked matured now!
My uncut long hair and prominent stubble probably did the trick but i liked how my day was progressing. An hour Later i went to buy bread from a nearby bakery hen i bumped into another school friend Priya. Priya and me were classmates and took tutions from christabell together. We spoke at length reliving our olden days.
The fun time we had, jokes we made and the rukus we created.....ooooo how incredible those days were.Nobody can forget Ashwin and malaika and the fights we had and then laughing our heads off and then the punishments we got and laughing still!We could go on and on and the stories would never end. I returned home but those thoughts still continued running through my head.

When Things Go Wrong

When things go wrong, as they sometimes will,
When the road you're trudging seems all uphill,
When the funds are low and the debts are high,
And you want to smile, but you have to sigh,
When care is pressing you down a bit-
Rest if you must, but don't you quit.
Life is queer with its twists and turns,
As every one of us sometimes learns,
And many a fellow turns about
When he might have won had he stuck it out.
Don't give up though the pace seems slow -
You may succeed with another blow.
Often the goal is nearer than
It seems to a faint and faltering man;
Often the struggler has given up
When he might have captured the victor's cup;
And he learned too late when the night came down,
How close he was to the golden crown.
Success is failure turned inside out -
The silver tint in the clouds of doubt,
And you never can tell how close you are,
It might be near when it seems afar;
So stick to the fight when you're hardest hit -
It's when things seem worst that you must not quit.
