All through my life there have been many friends...
some i met in school,some in college,some at work.
Some remain aquaintainces and some become close friends
and still some become indispensible...best friends !
I take time to get to know a person untill i can call someone a 'friend'

BTW there are many people in our life which remain somewhere outside of the scope of the definition of the word friendship. They are more than acquaintances but less than friends. Whether they crossover to the friend category is not always clear. But these are the ones who have the capacity to surprise us and teach us about our confining and sometimes narrow definitions of the words we use and the world we build with them.
